What is the minimum age of criminal responsibility in Norway?

Chapter 6 - Question 4 of 9

A: Age 15

B: Age 16

C: Age 18

Correct! Children and young people under the age of 15 can not be penalized. The Police will usually still investigate a case to find out if something illegal occurred. They have an obligation to investigate cases where the suspect is 12 years or older, but may also choose to investigate if the child is younger. The Police can also call in children and young people along with their parents for a conversation of concern, and/or transfer the case over to Child Welfare Services.
